Walking Through Pain, Leading With Purpose

A Journey In Our Shoes Foundation was born from a pain no parent should ever have to carry. After losing three beloved sons, Dayeveon, Artis, and David, to gun violence, we made the courageous decision to turn grief into purpose.

Their lives, dreams, and legacies continue to guide this work. What began as heartbreak has become a mission to help young people and families in Coahoma County find healing, support, safety, and hope.

Our foundation exists to serve youth and adults who have been impacted by gun violence, trauma, grief, and community hardship. Through mentorship, healing circles, life-skills workshops, educational support, safe spaces, family assistance, and community peace efforts, we work to break cycles of violence and help people move toward brighter futures.

The name A Journey In Our Shoes reflects lived experience. We know what loss feels like. We know the weight families carry. We understand that many young people are facing pain long before they have the words to explain it. Because of that, our work is rooted in compassion, trust, accountability, and love.

We believe every young person deserves someone in their corner. Someone to listen. Someone to guide them. Someone to remind them that their life has value and their future still matters.

A Journey In Our Shoes Foundation honors the lives of Dayeveon, Artis, and David by helping protect, uplift, and empower others. Their stories will not be forgotten, and through this work, their legacy will continue to save lives.
